Like many, I’m a creature of habit. When I know I like something, I’m just as sure I’ll enjoy it the next time, and the time after that. Everybody has a ‘usual’ somewhere, and at Baïeta, rest assured my new ‘usual’ is far superior than your average Joe’s pastrami on rye.
In case you haven’t been to Baïeta, allow me to set the scene. Down along the river banks of Thao Dien, a chic and breezy alfresco dining space invites you in for a vibrant feast of tapas, pizza and Mediterranean classics, graced by the towering presence of Landmark 81 in the close distance.
Three large menus fold out onto your table, listing the spectacular selection of Food, Drinks and Wine, leaving you undeniably spoiled for choice. In the interest of saving your time, here are my top 3 picks at Baïeta:
- Eggs Mimosa

Expect eggs at their most extraordinary. Divinely devilled, lusciously creamy egg yolk is piped into boiled egg whites, elevated by the decadent cherry on top of black truffle. Marvellously moreish, these delightful small bites are the perfect accompaniment to your first drink of the night.
2. Salmon Carpaccio

Served with a basket of sliced bread, this next dish may or may not be right up your alley, but I am certainly a fan. Another light dish, but delivering impact on flavour, the Salmon Carpaccio has the addictive quality of Sour Cream & Onion Pringles – you will definitely finish it in one go. Ever so fresh and herbaceous, these delicate discs of salmon could compel just about anybody to reach for a second and third bite.
3. Scallops a la Plancha

Finally, while this showstopper may not be the heavy final flourish to a meal you’d hoped for, it is more than enough to satisfy. Incorporating surf and turf, these grilled scallops are paired with crumbly bacon bits, resting atop a smooth potato puree cut with the essence of more sumptuous black truffle. Simply irresistible, I will admit, one trio alone may leave you wanting more if you’re forced to share.
Wanting for more than just a light bite? Add on one of their rustic wood-fired pizzas, and you have yourself a satisfying meal for two. To avoid disappointment, make sure you book a table with a view in advance, as this up and coming venue fills up fast.
Love, Becca.
